About Swamimalai Hill Trekking
The entire trek can be divided into two parts. The first part starts from the Mangalam village. To be specific the Mariamman temple of this village. After 15 minutes of trekking, you can find the forest office where you need to pay INR 350 per person for the trekking.
From there the second part starts and from there the entire trekking path is rough. Major part of trekking has steep stairs. It almost takes 1 hr - 1 hr 30 min to reach the hilltop. There are no shops on the side of these trekking paths so carrying food and water is very important.
Upon reaching at the top you might see one or two venders selling water or fruits. There is a small Shiva Temple inside the rock cave. Also there is a iron ladder, by climbing that ladder you can have great views.
*During monsoon, this path gets very slippery so monsoon is not a good time to trek in Swamimalai Hills.
